Basic characteristics

The Tatra Chamois 2025 is the 30 th year of the international thematic
competition of non-professional (amateur) and non-commercial films, which has been
held since 1973, usually with a two-year periodicity. The competition is held under the
patronage of the World Organisation for Nonprofessional Film UNICA (Union
Internationale du Cinéma).

The mission of the competition

The main mission of the event is to present and support non-professional
(amateur) filmmaking, to activate and inspire non-professional (amateur) filmmakers
and to stimulate the creation of films from the following thematic areas: culture, art,
ethnography, travel and films about mountains. Environmental problems and their
solutions are also mapped and the current way of life of people is recorded for future
generations. The event also makes it possible to bring the audience closer to cultural,
historical and technical monuments at home and abroad, to preserve for future
generations the testimony of disappearing crafts or customs, and to bring the
audience closer to interesting places on our planet.
Organizing another year of the competition will contribute to preserving the continuity
of such thematically oriented work in Slovakia and will allow comparison with similarly
oriented works from abroad.

B. The course of the competition

The competition is single-round and is open to any non professional (amateur)
filmmaker, citizen of the Slovak Republic, as well as non-professional (amateur)
filmmakers from abroad. The competition is divided according to age criteria and
thematic focus of the entries. Each competitor can enter his/her works in individual
categories.
